The common isn't a large area, but it has a few components. There is the main lake, above, with scenic views and shaded pathways.
There is a playground complete with a do-it-yourself TV and jumbo chair.
There is various street art, including this red circle that is surprisingly comfortable to lie in...
...and this white circle which doesn't lend itself to reclining but does feature intertwined butterflies.
Just out of the common itself, in an area where houses are still being built, there are fountains. Mr Bite explored them in detail.

At the end of it all, there was a setting sun, dusky light, and a return home for dinner.
Conclusion of the day? Local exploring is more fun than we give it credit for.
Subiaco Common is located off Juniper Bank Way, Mere View Way and Jacaranda Way, Subiaco, Western Australia.
Do you have parks or open spaces near you that you like to explore?
Looks like a great place to explore - love the park - is Mr Bite actually standing in the fountain to get wet or just curious? Always fun to be a tourist in your own city - makes you look with wonder rather than taking it all for granted
ReplyDeleteI think a bit of getting wet and a bit of curiousity but mostly a desire for wet (and cool)! It was quite a shallow fountain :-)
DeleteI always think that we forget to explore the areas we live in...your post has just reminded me I should do more of this :)
ReplyDeleteI often forget too - but it's always fun when I remember!
DeleteIt looks like you had the whole place to yourselves. And it looks very peaceful. It's true, we never explore our own cities enough xx
ReplyDeleteWe saw a few other people, but you're right - we largely had free reign! Heading out when most people are preparing dinner works well :-)
DeleteGreat photos!
ReplyDeleteHehe!!
ReplyDeleteI love the DIY TV!
Mr bite looks like he is enjoying the fountain. We hope to get to Perth this year :)
Oh, brilliant! I wonder if you'll make it before we leave for the UK in May?!
DeleteSome great photos there! I've not been to Perth since I was a kid but I really want to take a holiday there as it always looks so picturesque :)
ReplyDeleteEspecially those parks!
Thanks Jan! It does have some really scenic spots but I recommend not visiting just now because those scenic spots are also rather hot ;)
DeleteIt's almost like being a tourist in your own neighborhood! So fun.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joanne, it really was :-)
DeleteLooks so tranquil!
