Out and about in Perth #6 - Subiaco Common

At the end of a scorching Saturday, Mr Bite and I visited Subiaco Common to soak up the setting sun, sea breeze, and cooler temperatures. The common is a man-made park and lake set against modern housing developments, tucked into a quiet corner of the leafy Subiaco suburb. It's not far from us, but this is the first time we've explored it fully.

The common isn't a large area, but it has a few components. There is the main lake, above, with scenic views and shaded pathways.

There is a playground complete with a do-it-yourself TV and jumbo chair.

There is various street art, including this red circle that is surprisingly comfortable to lie in...

...and this white circle which doesn't lend itself to reclining but does feature intertwined butterflies.

Just out of the common itself, in an area where houses are still being built, there are fountains. Mr Bite explored them in detail.

At the end of it all, there was a setting sun, dusky light, and a return home for dinner.

Conclusion of the day? Local exploring is more fun than we give it credit for.

Subiaco Common is located off Juniper Bank Way, Mere View Way and Jacaranda Way, Subiaco, Western Australia.
