Five things Friday

1. We're home! Italy was great but I'm still happy to be back, even if it seems shockingly dark in the mornings.

I worked out that since we moved (5 weeks ago today) I have flown in and out of London Heathrow airport (for my trip to Dresden), out of London Gatwick airport (when we left for Italy) and into London City airport (when we returned from Italy). That's quite a lot of airport in a 5 week span, at least for me.

2. You know how I raved about Italian coffee in my last post? Since returning, I've seen signs for Starbucks pumkin spiced lattes and I kind of want one. I know, I'm terrible.

Last year's pumkin spice latte.
It usually only takes one before I remember I like the concept more than the actual drink.

3. Downton Abbey. It's back!

We watched the first episode last night. It's just as good. The awkward conversation between Mr Carson and Mrs Patmore was a particular highlight. Is it showing where you are yet?

4. Rugby. Are you into it? Do you get it? I'm not and I don't.

I am following the AFL final results from afar though. For a while I thought we could have a Grand Final between two Western Australian teams, which was an amazing concept. I'm sad that Fremantle are out after doing so well all year, but took pleasure on my Dad's behalf for Hawthorn (his team) making it to the end stage.

5. This impromptu salad. Spinach, carrot, sweet potato, almonds, goji berries, fig, lemon juice.

Complete deliciousness.

  1. That's the great thing about living in the UK - Europe is just a hop, skip and a jump away. US bloggers are posting all sorts of odd pumpkin spiced products lately - they are surprised that just because it's almost Halloween that everything is going pumpkin spiced.

    1. I expect we're just about to enter Halloween hype here too!

  2. It is sunny here but no dowton for us (we are so behind) and no pumpkin spiced latte for me. I have kept a bit of an eye on AFL but not much because I only get interested if those around me are and there is very little talk of AFL around me. I wish there was a trip to italy but Echuca will have to do - am looking forward to our holiday tomorrow

    1. I hope you have a great break Johanna! And I guess your family's teams aren't so well represented in the AFL finals this year, which gives a football break for you.

  3. I stopped watching Downton after the second series ended then started reading episode summaries. I might end up watching it again because Edith grew on me when she started showing some independence!

  4. I think we will have to wait until next year to see Downton Abbey. Such a long wait! I'm glad the new season is up to the same standard as the previous seasons. You certainly have been in and out of a lot of airports in a short space of time xx

    1. I think you'll find the wait worth it, for Downton :-)
