A Spring weekend

Spring has definitely arrived!

This weekend brought clear skies and warm temperatures... and colour...

...the opportunity for a long bike ride...

...cheaper fruit when visiting the Markets...

...and perfect weather for what may be my final attendance at a football game this year...

Western Australian Football League semi-finals

...all in all, a very relaxing 2 days before jumping back into the working week.

My Mum's Scanpan stove top grill also allowed me to make the best tofu I have ever made at home...

...the details of which will definitely come!

Of course, this weekend was also a time for reflection.

My thoughts were with those affected by the September 11 attacks 10 years ago, and with those who continue to live in areas negatively affected by terrorism and associated warfare.

I hope that in another 10 years, we're a little further along on our quest for no war, no terror, and no fighting.

I am sure this boy would agree, as would his Middle Eastern counterparts.

  1. It was a freezing spring weekend in Canberra but I consoled myself with the 3 punnets of strawberries I got for $5!!! I love the arrival of summer fruit.

I can't believe that 10 years have passed since that terrible day. I hope you are right about a peaceful future, but somehow the world seems more violent with every passing year.

  2. We didn't get much sunshine but yours looks glorious - and sunshine always makes me feel more hopeful. Just as well on the anniversary of 9/11 when you wonder what those who died would think of so much warfare in their name.

  3. Warmth, warmth, warmth. It makes me so very happy! Even though there was still frost on the car this morning...

  4. Sounds like a lovely weekend! I hope some of that warmth comes Melbourne's way soon - we had SO much rain and general wintery weather on the weekend. I'm ready for spring to sprung!

  5. mmmmm I love vegan mouse! I have experimented with avocado ones and silken tofu ones...they're all so creamy and delicious!!

  6. I'm rediscovering my love for tofu at the moment, so come on... cough it up :-)
(grilled tofu strips with hommus as a snack today- surprisingly damn delicious!)

  7. @Lisa
They are good value strawberries! Yum. I think Canberra is a little behind Perth in warming up, but hopefully you'll get there soon :)

  8. @Johanna GGG
Yes, indeed. Sunshine for them does seem fitting.

  9. @Hannah
Frost! Eek. Although we did have some rain this morning too, so perhaps it's Spring-like rather than fully there...

  10. @cityhippyfarmgirl
'Tis coming! I love the sound of your snack idea too.

  11. Beautiful post! Soldiers always kept in our prayers <3
I can't believe it's becoming Spring for you.. I cannot tell you how jealous I am! Haha, Can I come visit? ;)

  12. oh hey---in that photo of cheaper fruit at the market... are those count's fruits I see behind that man? The ones that look like armoured artichokes? (I don't know what you'd call them in English, but in Brazil they call them "fruita do conde"---I didn't think they were anywhere outside South America!)

I like spring. I like all the seasons---when you can tell things are changing. In Brazil for "winter" and "spring", it's been periodically hot, and less hot. Sometimes chilly. But it's not like spring thaw and first bloom, sweltering summer days, fall colours, and snowy winter sports! Change is good. :)

  13. @Stephanie @
Regarding the fruit, I actually have no idea! But I will check next weekend and let you know - they do have lots of exotic fruit not seen at supermarkets, so it's possible :)

I'm with you, I like the changes that season shifts bring. I don't think I'd like the Brazilian seasons as much!
